Instead of spending your time and money, and piling on the various facial products you own at the risk of harming your skin, here are some simple and homemade concoctions that you can cook up at home to achieve fair, flawless skin. Your wallet and your skin will thank you, trust me!
1. Potato Juice
What you need:
- 1 potato
How To Prepare It:
1. Peel the potato and cut it into inch-sized pieces
2. Place potato pieces on areas you want to lighten for juice to enter skin
3. Leave on for 20 minutes, wash off with water
Another way to prepare this is to grate the potato, drain out the juice, and apply onto face with the help of a cotton pad.
Frequency of Application:
3 times a week, before bedtime.
2. Papaya and Honey Mask
What You Need:
- ½ cup of papaya pieces
- 1 teaspoon of honey
How to prepare it:
1. Mash papaya pieces to create a smooth, thick paste.
2. Add tablespoon of honey into the mix and blend thoroughly.
3. Apply the paste onto your face and keep it on for 20 minutes.
4. Wash off paste with warm water.
5. Rinse again thoroughly with cold water this time and dry your skin.
Frequency of Application:
Recommended to be done every alternate day, before bed.

3. Blueberry Skin Brightening Mask
What You Need:
- A handful of fresh blueberries
- ½ cup of plain yogurt
How To Prepare It:
1. Crush blueberries and blend paste with yogurt
2. Blend well, and apply mask to face.
3. Leave it on for 15 minutes, rinse off.
Frequency of application:
Twice a week before bedtime.
4. Baking Soda Scrub
What You Need:
- 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda
- Water
How To Prepare It:
1. Mix the baking soda in the water to make a paste
2. Apply paste onto areas you want to lighten and scrub for 5 minutes
3. Wash off with water
Frequency of application:
Recommended to be applied every day for a week, before bedtime

- ½ cup raw rice
- 3- 4 tablespoons milk

2. Apply paste onto skin and leave it on for 20-30 minutes
3. Wash off with warm water.
