Take a good look at your skin type

Your skin type doesn’t always stay the same. You may have started with oily, acne prone skin in your teens, with skin changing to normal and as you age, you may notice that’s more prone to dryness. Recognising what your skin type is is the first step to achieving great skin. This will help you in purchasing the right type of skincare products suited for your skin and to treat any foreseeable problems.

Know your ingredients

Not all products are created equal and one of the best way to know if you’re getting for what you paid is to look at the list of ingredients state don the product. If the ingredient is listed near the bottom of the list, it’s likely that the ingredient is not going to be offering that much skincare benefit. This rule doesn’t apply to acidic products such as salicylic acid, also known as a facial exfoliant. Too much of such ingredients can do more harm than good for your skin.

Wear sunscreen

We’ve asked dermatologists if there’s only ONE skincare product they would have to choose for the rest of their lives, the unanimous reply remains: sunscreen. No matter the season and weather, sunscreen is the key thing that is going to keep your skin protected from the harmful (and ageing) rays of the sun. So if you’re looking to delay ageing for as long as possible, take it from the professionals and be religious with your sunscreen.

Say no to makeup wipes

As convenient as makeup wipes are all made out to be, they aren’t recommended by the doctors. Not only do they cause you to pull and stretch your skin when you use them, they aren’t known to be the most effective in getting rid of makeup and dirt from your face. Stick to a good oil cleanser which is gentle on your skin without drying it out, it’s known for its efficacy in getting deep into the pores to offer your skin a deep cleanse. Besides we don’t need more single-use items for the environment.

Invest in a doctor

We’re not saying that you need to spend a fortune at a doctor’s to achieve good skin. But seeking out the advise of a professional can profoundly improve your problem areas such as acne scars and pigmentation. Plus they can recommend the right products for you to keep your skin in tip top condition.
