Everyday guide to glowing skin

Everyone I know wants glowing skin and honestly who doesn’t? Glowing skin is an indication of clear, poreless skin that is in pristine health. And just when you think it’s impossible to attain skin you’ll love and be the envy of others, think again – it really may not be as complex as you think it is. Anyone can transform their dull, tired skin into one that is radiant and luminous, you just have to know how.

Cleanse properly

Giving your skin a good skin is the very first step in giving your complexion a good shot at glowing. A good cleanse doesn’t mean your skin literally feels squeaky clean. A good product should effectively clean off all the day’s buildup of dirt and grime and makeup too!

A double cleanse is a surefire way to get your skin well cleaned. Start with an oil-based cleanser that is great for removing makeup and clean again with another facial cleanser. Better yet, find a cleanser that’s gentle enough for sensitive skin, and paraben-free so you won’t run the risk of irritating your skin.

Exfoliate regularly

The process of exfoliating literally gets rid of the dead skin cells that’s piling up on the surface of our skin, literally allowing your complexion to become smoother and clearer.

With exfoliants, you can choose between a physical exfoliator which is recommended to be used 2 to 3 times a day, or a chemical exfoliator that uses acids to melt away the dead skin cells. Chemical exfoliators is recommended for use once a week for sensitive skin types and up to 3 times a week for other skin types. Don’t be afraid to mix up your exfoliators to get the best effects from both types but be sure not to be over zealous with exfoliating too, which can irritate the skin.

Invest in brightening skincare ingredients

While you may have your basic skincare regimen in place, it’s never a bad idea to add a boost to brighten things up, your skin specifically.

Look for ingredients that are renowned for brightening skin and evening out your skin tone, such as Vitamin C, that promises to brighten the skin by blocking an enzyme responsible for producing pigment, and Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3 that helps to slow pigment production to lighten dark spots.

Don’t forget to hydrate and protect

A well hydrated skin will look more plump and better able to reflect light for that all-glowing effect. Keep skin well hydrated with a moisturizer that’s suited for your skin type and don’t think for a moment that if you have oily skin, you’re privy to skipping moisturisers. Oily skin types just need to find a moisturizer that’s lightweight and won’t clog up the pores.

Sunscreen is a must and a step that’s not to be missed. Pigmentation can have the adverse effect of skin looking dull and daily use of sunscreen will help to protect the skin and prevent the formation of pigmentation on your skin.
