Not all glow is the same.
There is the glow of skin that looks plump and full: a soft, three-dimensional luminosity that reads as hydrated from within, the quality often described as mochi skin. And there is the glow of skin that looks very even and clear: a high-gloss brilliance where little interrupts the light on the surface, the quality often called glass skin.
Both are reasonable goals, and the right facial can support either. But the facials that focus on one are not the same as the facials that focus on the other, and booking the wrong one is a common mistake when you know you want to glow but are not sure which kind.

Bounce: what it means and what supports it
Bounce, the mochi-skin quality, comes from skin that is well hydrated and comfortable, with a supple surface that catches the light softly. Air-conditioning, travel and long weeks can leave skin dehydrated, and dehydrated skin tends to look flat even when it is otherwise healthy.
A good moisturiser helps at home. A facial adds a more thorough round of cleansing, hydration and massage, which can leave skin looking more rested and plump.
Facials to consider for bounce:
- Blue Peptide Facial™: SW1 Spa’s skin longevity ritual. HydraFacial cleansing, a copper peptide (GHK-Cu) infusion delivered with LDM ultrasound and a Blue Sculpt gua sha massage for the face and neck, finished with a hydrating mask. It is designed to support skin quality, firmness and radiance over a course of sessions, rather than as a one-off glow.
- The Glow Mojito: a two-step Facial Cocktail. The Glow base hydrates while gently exfoliating, and a Pearl Éclat Shot follows with glutathione, an antioxidant. A gentle first choice for skin that looks flat and dehydrated.
- Aqua.dermabrasion: three stages of vitamin-enriched saline, an antioxidant mist and an oxygen wrap, for skin that looks stressed, dehydrated or tired.
Brilliance: what it means and what supports it
Brilliance, the glass-skin quality, comes from skin that looks even in tone and smooth in texture, with pores that look refined. When the surface is smooth and the tone is even, light reflects more uniformly, and skin takes on that clear, high-gloss look.
Facials aimed at brilliance focus on the surface: thorough cleansing, gentle exfoliation and brightening steps for a more even-looking tone.
Facials to consider for brilliance:
- Monroe Hydrafacial: Hydrafacial MD cleansing, a glutathione and vitamin C infusion and dual LED light, finished with a Pearl Éclat gel mask. SW1 Spa’s brightening-focused Hydrafacial.
- Illumi Facial: a 75-minute light-based facial using Titan light energy, designed for skin that looks dull, tired or uneven. There is little to no downtime for most people, and your therapist will check that it suits your skin first.
- Glamour Peel: a six-in-one peel facial that looks at brightness, the look of spots, lines, pores, oil and hydration in one 90-minute appointment, with a peel blend chosen for your skin on the day.

What if you want both?
Most skin benefits from a little of each. The useful question is which one is the priority right now. Skin that looks clear but flat usually suits a bounce facial first. Skin that looks plump but uneven usually suits a brilliance facial first.
The SW1 Spa menu covers both, on their own or together, and the Facial Cocktails let you pair a base with a targeted garnish. If you are unsure where to start, your therapist can assess your skin on the day and suggest a facial. Results may vary.
At home, daily sunscreen and a simple routine help keep the glow going. If you want a vitamin C step, GLOWGENIC C+T Vitamin C & Turmeric Serum from SW1 Shop is one option. For concerns that go beyond a facial, such as pigmentation or loss of firmness, the doctors at SW1 Clinic offer a full aesthetic consultation.
