The Micro Edit: Golden Eye, 24K Chin Up and Illumi Facial, Area by Area

Once skin is in a settled, prepared state, the second half of SW1 Spa’s structure comes into play: the Micro Edit. Where the Foundation treatments, Deep Deep Clean and Deep Red, address skin broadly, the Micro Edit works area by area, with each treatment built around one clear, specific job rather than a generalised sweep across the whole face.

Why area by area works better than one generalised treatment

A single face is not a single, uniform concern. The eye area, the jawline and overall skin tone each behave differently, age differently and respond to different kinds of intervention. A facial that treats all three the same way is, by definition, under-treating some of them to accommodate the others. The Micro Edit approach treats this as a feature to design around rather than a limitation to work past: pick the area or outcome that matters most right now, and apply a treatment built specifically for it.

Golden Eye

The eye area is thinner, more delicate, and behaves differently to the rest of the face, which is precisely why it is usually the last area a generalised facial gets around to and the first area where signs of fatigue or ageing tend to show. Golden Eye is built specifically for this area, addressing it with the level of precision that a broader, whole face treatment is not designed to provide.

For anyone whose primary concern sits specifically around the eyes, rather than the face as a whole, a targeted treatment like this tends to be a more considered choice than a generalised facial that happens to pass over the eye area as one step among many.

24K Chin Up

If there is one treatment on SW1 Spa’s menu that most clearly demonstrates the Micro Edit thesis, it is 24K Chin Up. The premise is narrow by design: one defined area, the jawline, treated with precision rather than folded into a broader facial. Jawline definition is a specific, identifiable concern, distinct from overall skin quality or tone, and it responds to targeted, area specific treatment in a way that a generalised approach, spread thin across the whole face, is not built to deliver.

This is the clearest illustration of why the Micro Edit model exists at all: a genuinely targeted treatment, aimed at one defined outcome, tends to do that one thing better than a treatment trying to do everything at once. 24K Chin Up does not attempt to also address the eyes or overall radiance. It focuses, and that focus is the point.

Illumi Facial

Where Golden Eye and 24K Chin Up are area specific, Illumi Facial addresses overall glow and radiance once the groundwork has been laid by the Foundation treatments. It is best understood as the finishing step in a considered plan, not a substitute for the preparation that Deep Deep Clean and Deep Red provide. Skin that arrives at an Illumi Facial already clean and calm tends to respond to it considerably better than skin that has not had that groundwork done, which is why sequencing, not just treatment selection, matters as much as it does.

Choosing between the three

The right Micro Edit treatment depends on what is actually bothering you, not on which sounds most appealing on a given day. If the eye area is your specific concern, Golden Eye is built for that. If jawline definition is what you are after, 24K Chin Up is the clearest, most targeted option on the menu for it. If your skin is already in reasonably good condition and what you want is an overall lift in glow and radiance, Illumi Facial is the natural finishing treatment, particularly after a Foundation session.

None of these three treatments are designed to replace each other, and none of them are designed to replace the Foundation. They are designed to be chosen deliberately, for a specific, current need, in the same way a considered home routine calls for one or two well chosen actives rather than a shelf full of serums used indiscriminately.

What comes next

In the final post of this series, we look at how the Foundation and Micro Edit fit together into a considered skin plan across multiple visits, rather than a single session, and how that differs from simply booking whatever happens to be on offer that month.

A note on combining Micro Edit treatments

It is reasonable to ask whether more than one Micro Edit treatment can be booked in the same visit, and the honest answer depends on the individual skin’s condition on the day, which is why this is a conversation to have with the treating physician rather than a fixed rule to follow in advance. What holds across all cases is the underlying sequence: Foundation first, targeted work second, and never the reverse.

Results may vary. All treatments are physician-administered or supervised.
